With God Series Part 1 :: 1/3/16

With God Series
Mark 10:27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

The title of my message is the theme for our church in 2016 – WITH GOD
"With God" is used in this verse twice.

With God Series Part 1
The Possibilities With God
Intro: The context of this verse is found in a conversation pertaining to the salvation of a rich man.
The story of this young, man begins in verse 17. Matt. 19 and Luke 18 tell the same story, adding some details:
1. He was Willing – verse 17 says he came running. He wasn’t reluctant; he wasn’t disinterested. He was eager.
2. He was a Worker – what must I DO that I may inherit eternal life. He was more than willing to try to EARN it.
3. He was Well Behaved – all these have I observed from my youth
BUT -  4. He was Wealthy – vs. 22 says GREAT POSSESSIONS. Luke 18 says VERY RICH.
There was one commandment he couldn’t obey - Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

First of all – look at verse 23 – Jesus said, “How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!”
There’s a difference in something being hard, and something being impossible.
Verse 24 – the disciples were astonished at his words. Why?
NOTICE VERSE 14, 15.  He had just preached that you couldn’t receive the kingdom of God unless you came a child.
Now he’s saying it’s hard.
But they weren’t listening to what he was saying.

Here’s the question – Is it God’s will for men to be saved?
·         2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

The key that we need to remember about the POSSIBILITIES THAT EXIST WITH GOD – it has to line up with His will.
If something is God’s will, it is not a problem for God to make it come to pass.
If something is NOT God’s will, it is out of character for God to make it happen.
·         NOTE: Many people determine their will, then try to recruit God to make it happen.
Rather than determine God’s will, and allow Him to make it happen.
This verse explains the delicate balance between the will of God and the will of man.
Is it possible for a rich man to be saved? Yes.
Is it hard? Yes. Why? Because he puts his trust in riches.
The possibilities WITH GOD are uncomplicated – if it is His will, He can.

I. The Possibilities With God are Unequaledwith men it is impossible…

Men are incredible creatures.
The Psalmist described man as “For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.Psalms 8:5
The creativity of man and the inventions of man are incredible.
The scientific breakthroughs, the technological advancements are mind boggling.
The ability and potential of the human mind is incredible.
Of course, Einstein said, Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.

Jesus was very clear – man cannot do everything.
The POSSIBILITIES with man are LIMITED.
He cannot be saved IN HIS OWN POWER AND TRUSTING IN HIS OWN THINGS.
NOTICE the words of Jesus in verse 25 – it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

The disciples asked – Who then can be saved?
Man cannot save himself.
·         He is dead. He needs to be resurrected.
·         He is a stranger and an alien from God. He needs to be brought nigh.
·         He is blind. He needs sight.
·         He is sick. He needs healing.
·         He is lost. He needs to be found.
·         He is an enemy of God. He needs to be reconciled.
Can God save a sinner?  Can an unbeliever be saved?
With man, it is impossible – BUT NOT WITH GOD!!

II. The Possibilities With God are Unlimitedall things are possible

God expands the statement from the possibility of salvation to include the possibility of ALL THINGS.
That is a huge statement. LOOK AT IT! - FOR WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.

·         Ephesians 3:20  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

That means ALL THINGS.
·         That includes situations.
·         That includes your relationships.
·         That includes your finances
·         That includes your spiritual needs
·         That includes your job
·         That includes your church
·         That includes your soul-winning
·         That includes your giving
·         That includes your child-training
·         That includes your marriage

WITH GOD – ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE
